PICU RN – Richmond, VA

Facility: VCU
Shift: Rotating — Night 4x12hr (7p–7a) and Day 4x12hr (7a–7p); a few weeks on one schedule, then switches to the other (no rotating shifts within the same week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (91 contract weeks available)
Orientation: 36 hours (non-billable modules, ~6 hours, assigned via VCU Learning Exchange — must be completed by Friday of orientation week)
Weekend Coverage: Required — 12–13 weekend shifts per contract, every other weekend
Holidays: Must work a minimum of 2 holidays

Facility Details:

• 24 rooms/24 beds; daily census ~19
• Patient population: Neonates
• Designated Level I Trauma; designated pediatric burn center
• Multi-service specialties: CV, Surgical, Neuro, Heme-Onc
• Charting System: EPIC (required, no exceptions)
• Interdisciplinary support: interpretation services
• Locals accepted at same base rate — no radius rules

Skills: Care of ventilated patients, continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, PICU, CVVH, chemo administration, ECMO*, ICP monitoring, telemetry, vents

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year experience required; 3 years preferred
• Active VA license or compact state license in hand at time of submittal
• Active BLS required
• PALS required
• Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• 2 references required
• Charge experience preferred
• Will float within scope if needed
