Labor & Delivery RN – Travel Contract

Position: Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery
Contract: 13 Weeks / 91 Days
Shift: Days | 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts | 36 hours/week
Weekend: Every other weekend may be required
Charting: MEDITECH
BSN: Not required

Position Overview

The Family Birth Center is looking for an experienced Labor & Delivery RN who is comfortable caring for both mother and baby. The unit has a 10-bed LDRP unit with a Level II Nursery and provides labor, postpartum, couplet care, newborn nursery, and Level II nursery services.

RNs are cross-trained across the department, with the primary emphasis on Labor & Delivery experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Care for both mother and newborn
• Provide couplet care and newborn nursery care
• Support Level II Nursery patients
• Assist with C-section circulation
• Monitor and assess patients throughout the birth process
• Provide patient/family education and support
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary birth center team

Unit Details

• 10-bed LDRP
• Level II Nursery
• 1 Operating Suite
• Approximately 50–65 deliveries/month
• Hospital-provided OR green scrubs
• Acute care setting

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience
• Must be comfortable with Labor & Delivery and newborn care
• Experience with postpartum/couplet care and nursery care is important
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• NRP required
• Active RN license
• Required nursing/core competency exams

Contract Details

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours/week guaranteed
• 3×12-hour day shifts
• 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Every other weekend may be required
• Cancellation: 1 shift per 4 weeks
• OT shifts may be cancelled at will

Important: The manager specifically emphasized that the candidate must be experienced and comfortable caring for both mother and baby, not just Labor & Delivery.
