Description
Histotechnologist - Contract
Location: Watertown, NY
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 8-Hour Days – Start times 5:30 AM or 6:00 AM
Start Date: October 28, 2026
Duties :
The Histotechnologist will be responsible for processing, embedding, cutting, and staining surgical and autopsy tissue, as well as preparing and staining cytopathology specimens for Pathologist examination and interpretation. Responsibilities include preparing microscopic sections for diagnosis, managing tissue appropriately, maintaining documentation and supplies, operating and maintaining equipment, performing specialized techniques for diagnostic purposes, and participating in the Quality Assurance program.
Requirement:
- Minimum 2 years of Histology experience required
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry, or HTL certification from a recognized agency
- Histotechnician AAS required
- New York State license required
- Experience processing, embedding, cutting, and staining surgical and autopsy tissue
- Experience preparing and staining cytopathology specimens
- Knowledge of preparing microscopic sections for Pathologist diagnosis
- Experience with specialized/selective histology techniques for diagnostic purposes
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage laboratory supplies and equipment
Quality Assurance experience preferred
