Registered Nurse – ICU

Location: Towson, MD 21204

Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights, 19:00–07:30
Schedule: 3x12-Hour; Every Other Weekend Required
Patient Ratio: 1:2 (maximum 1:3 for lower-acuity patients)
Charting System: Epic Preferred
Float Required: Yes – Cardiac Surgical ICU/CSU for stable ICU patients, Telemetry, and IMC; travelers float first
Call Requirement: No
Note: Holidays required as scheduled. Block scheduling unavailable. Must be comfortable floating within specialty and to lower-acuity units.

Position Overview:

The ICU RN provides comprehensive critical care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiac intensive care settings, managing high-acuity patients requiring ventilatory, hemodynamic, and advanced medication support.

Job duties:

• Assess, monitor, and manage critically ill patients with complex medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiac conditions.
• Manage mechanical ventilation, respiratory support, chest tubes, CRRT, and other critical-care equipment.
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac medications, including pressors and continuous sedation infusions, according to patient condition and protocols.
• Perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring, arterial and central line management, and continuous cardiac monitoring.
• Provide emergency and evidence-based interventions for sepsis, ARDS, cardiogenic shock, stroke, postoperative complications, and multisystem organ dysfunction.

Requirements:
License: Active MD or Compact RN License
Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience; travel experience required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS
Other requirement: Epic preferred; experience with vents, CRRT/NextStage, IABP, and proning preferred.

Unit Details:
Unit: Multi-Specialty ICU – Nursing ICU 3010-10564
Patient Ratios: 1:2, maximum 1:3 for lower-acuity patients
Patient Population: Adolescents (rare, ages 15–17 if adult-like), adults, and geriatrics
Patient Diagnoses: MICU, SICU surgical abdominal, neuro/cervical spine and postoperative patients, cardiac medical conditions, MI, chest pain, pneumonia, respiratory failure requiring vents, sepsis, ARDS, cardiogenic shock, overdose, and post-cardiac catheterization patients; no trauma patients.
