Description
PICU/Float Pool RN – Oklahoma City, OK
Shift: Nights (weekends and holidays required)
Position: Float Pool, Children's hospital
Job Category: Registered Nurses Direct Care (SC1016)
Unit Overview
- Float pool covering PICU (34 beds), CICU (25 beds), and NICU (112 beds)
- Must be able to float throughout all of Children's, specifically acute care units: surgical, behavioral health, med specialty (GI, neuro, respiratory), hem/onc, step-down, and cardiac peds
- NICU floating is limited to feeder/grower, low-acuity babies, not traditional NICU
- Guaranteed hours: 48/week
Requirements
- Experience: 3 years of Level I trauma experience (required) and at least 1 year of nursing experience
- Must have experience with trach care and high-flow, and be familiar with infusions (first-line skills)
- Education: ADN from an accredited program required (BSN preferred)
- Certifications: BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA)
- License: Current Oklahoma RN license or multistate compact (eNLC) license
Core Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients, with documentation of responses to interventions and physician order changes
- Assists physicians with exams and minor diagnostic procedures/treatments
- Monitors physiological data and intervenes as needed
- Administers medications, initiates/regulates/monitors IV infusions and blood products
- Communicates the care plan and hospital procedures to patients and families
- Makes referrals to appropriate personnel and delegates tasks to support staff
