Trauma Level: Level IV
Beds: 15
Trauma Bays: 2
Average ED Volume: 35+ patients/day
Patient Ratio: 1:4

Hiring & Submission Process
- Candidate Interview: Required
- Interview will be conducted by the MedSol Clinical Team.
- Unit Manager involvement: Not required.
- Radius Requirement: 60 miles
- Driver's License: Must be submitted with the candidate profile.
- Orientation: Clinicians must be in-state for the entire week of orientation, even if the first-day modules are completed remotely.
- Unit/department-specific orientation date and location will be provided during the orientation week.
Required Certifications
Candidates must have the following certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- TNCC
- ENPC
- NRP
- NIHSS
Emergency Department Environment
The ED treats a broad range of emergency conditions, including:
- Abdominal pain
- Chest pain
- Fever
- Cough
- Dyspnea/shortness of breath
- Headaches
- Injuries
- Extremity pain
Must-Have Skills:
- TNCC
- NIHSS
- Strong emergency nursing assessment and critical-thinking skills
Department Features
- Fast Track: Yes
- Separate Triage Area: Yes
- Travelers may be required to perform triage.
- ER Holding Area: No; ER holds are not separated from the main ED.
- Psych/Seclusion Rooms: Yes
- Security: In-house 24/7 and located in the ER.
Medications & Drips
Travelers should be comfortable managing:
- Cardiac drips
- Antihypertensive medications
- Antiarrhythmics
- Sedation
- Analgesia
Staffing & Support
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Available
- Charge Nurse may take a patient assignment.
- Nurse aides/EMTs/paramedics/patient sitters are available depending on shift and department needs.
- Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7 in the ER.
- RT provides support with ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs.
Respiratory Equipment
The ED utilizes:
- Ventilators
- CPAP
- BiPAP
- High-flow oxygen
RNs should be comfortable working with this equipment and performing appropriate troubleshooting.
Monitoring
- Monitor Techs: No
- RNs are expected to independently monitor and interpret patient cardiac rhythms.
Diagnostic & Laboratory Services
- X-Ray/CT in the ER: No
- Patient transport is provided as needed.
- Lab Draws: Performed by both RNs and Phlebotomy.
Scheduling
- Self-Scheduling: Yes
- Block Scheduling: Yes
- Staff are expected to self-schedule a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, based on department needs, staffing requirements, and equitable distribution.
Weekend Requirements
Weekend coverage is required.
Full- and part-time employees are expected to schedule a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, in alignment with department staffing needs.
Holiday Requirements
Holiday coverage is required.
Call / Standby
Call or standby requirements are determined by the Nurse Manager based on department needs.
Floating
Floating requirements are determined by the Nurse Manager.
In cases of extreme staffing needs, travelers may be floated within Zone 1.
Orientation
Unit/department-specific orientation will be provided. The orientation date and location will be assigned during the week of orientation.
Clinicians must remain in state for the full orientation week, even when certain orientation modules are completed remotely.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced ED RN who is comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency environment, performing triage, managing a broad range of patient conditions, interpreting cardiac rhythms independently, and caring for patients requiring critical medications and respiratory support.
Candidates should have strong trauma and neurological assessment skills, with TNCC and NIHSS experience being essential.
