Position: Surgical Technologist – OR Peds
Shift: 4×10 Days, 07:00–17:30 + Call
Contract: 13 weeks
Guaranteed: 40 hrs/week
Charting: Epic
License: IL license required or application initiated

Must-Haves

• Minimum 2 years surgical tech/scrubbing experience
• 2 years pediatric experience preferred
• Surgical technologist program completion
• BLS required
• Scrubbing experience required
• Must be able to take call
• 30-minute call response time
• Active IL license or proof application has been initiated
• Negative drug screen required

Department

• OR – Pediatrics
• 30 total OR suites; approximately 3–4 pediatric surgery rooms/day
• 1 RN + 1 Surgical Tech per OR
• Common cases:
  • Pediatric general
  • Pediatric/adult ENT
  • Pediatric/adult dental
  • Pediatric urology
  • Pediatric/adult ophthalmology
  • Simple pediatric ortho

Schedule & Call

• 4×10s, Monday–Friday
• 07:00–17:30
• No fixed day off
• Weekend call: 1 weekend every 4 weeks
• Weekend call runs Saturday 07:00 → Monday 07:00
• Holiday call: 24 hours when applicable
• 30-minute response time
• Self-scheduling available, subject to balancing

Floating

Float within the OR department as needed:

• Ortho
• Neuro
• General
• Cardiac
• SPD

Usually the float is for helping between rooms, lunch breaks, or second-scrub coverage. Experienced techs may primary scrub general cases.

• Local rule: Candidates living within 50 miles receive a $25 lower local rate
• Cancellation: 12 hours per 13 weeks
• Orientation: 1–2 days with surgery educator + 2–3 days OR orientation
