Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM), weekdays
- On-call: Every 5th weekend (no call back minimum)
- Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 staffing
- Float Opportunity: May be floated to General Lab CDL
- Orientation: Two-day orientation every other Thursday; first two days in class, then unit orientation
- Charting System: Cerner
- Parking: Free for travelers
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue/White
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Special Procedures & Unit Details
- Procedures: Angiogram, Fistulogram, Permacath, EVAR, TCAR, TAVR, MitraClip, Mechanical Thrombectomy, Embolization
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), Stenosis, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), Stroke, Aneurysm
Additional Requirements & Notes
- First-time travelers allowed if they have Interventional Radiology experience
- No blocked schedules accommodated
- Must comply with a 100-mile radius rule for travel (75-99 miles require facility approval)
- Return-to-work restrictions: None, but must be included on profile at time of submission
- Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after last permanent day worked at this facility
- Flu vaccine refusal without approved medical exemption will disqualify candidate during flu season
- Candidate must submit one PDF containing: profile/work history, specialty skills checklist, minimum 2 manager/charge references (within 2 years), RN license verification, driver’s license, and social security card
- Orientation includes Cerner Infusion Management training
- Required to review and acknowledge facility policies including dress code, blood administration, math calculation for medication administration, and EKG review (for Telemetry/Stepdown, ICU, ER)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required if assigned to ER, Surgical & Trauma ICU, Trauma Stepdown, or Behavioral Health units (not specific to this role but relevant if floated)
- Stroke education CEUs required depending on unit assignment (not specific to this role)
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Interventional Radiology RN with a minimum of 2 years of RN experience in this specialty. The role requires weekday day shifts with on-call every 5th weekend, a comprehensive set of certifications and health clearances, and compliance with facility-specific policies and orientation. First-time travelers are welcome if they meet specialty experience requirements.
