Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Kerrville, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: 2W (Medical Surgical)
• Patient ratio: 1:5
• Schedule: 4/4 week schedule with weekend requirements

  • 8 weekend shifts in 4 weeks
  • Day shift weekend coverage: Saturday and Sunday
  • Night shift weekend coverage: Friday and Saturday nights
  • Must be available to work 4 of the 8 weekend shifts
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:45 to 7:15)
• Floating required to unit 3W and other units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• One completed travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• I9 verification
• E-Verify
• Background check: 7-year search including Social Security trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, education verification
• Annual federal exclusions checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
• Education verification
• Professional references: 2 within last 3 years
• Skills checklist: annual requirement
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam: must score 80% or above (as applicable)
• Competency exam: must score 80% or above (as applicable)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required for placement)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual requirement)
• Immunizations or documented immunity (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (or signed declination if booster declined)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year (must have plan to complete within 72 hours of contract signing)

• Approximately 1 hour from San Antonio

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with prior travel contract experience who are flexible with floating and weekend shifts.
