Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse
Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Pre-Op / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (5:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Schedule: Monday through Friday with alternating days off
- Call: After-hours and weekend call required
- Start Date: ASAP
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Demonstrated PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
Experience & Travel Requirements
- First-time travel nurses accepted
- No prior travel experience required
- Must be located at least 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Education Verification:
- Verification of highest nursing education (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree)
- Diploma or transcript required
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
- TB questionnaire within 3 months of start, updated annually (facility-specific form required)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1 and 2 required or declination form)
- Drug screening within 90 days of start (10-panel plus Oxycodone and Marijuana)
- Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year if respirator use is required
- References:
- Two references within 3 years of start (Qualivis requirement)

Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Facility-specific orientation and documentation will be provided prior to start
- Photo for badge required (headshot on plain background)
- Facility-specific on-call policy form required for certain units (check if applicable)
Additional Notes
- All requested Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included with initial submission; late requests will not be considered
- Candidates must pass all required exams by the second attempt
- Candidates will be allowed to test out of Epic system training if eligible
This position offers a structured 4x10 hour day shift schedule in a Pre-Op/PACU setting with a supportive environment for first-time travel nurses. Compliance with all licensing, certification, health, and background requirements is mandatory prior to start.
