Registered Nurse - Step Down Unit
Location: Pocatello, Idaho
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- 24-bed Progressive Care/Stepdown/Telemetry floor
- Comprehensive stroke center, Level II Trauma, Chest Pain Accredited
- Care includes complex patients such as PCI and open-heart surgery
Patient Ratios
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:3-4
Charting System
- Epic
Required Certifications
- Various other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, CPI, MAB) depending on patient population and unit needs
License Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Idaho
Key Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I-9 verification
- Driver’s License/State ID
- E-Verify
- 7-year background check (including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
- Education verification (diploma/transcript acceptable if verification pending)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations/vaccinations with proper documentation:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- TB questionnaire if applicable
- Annual unit-specific skills checklist
- Work history verification for 7 years
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized step-down unit with a focus on complex cardiac and stroke patients, requiring solid clinical skills and relevant certifications.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
