Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to other units including ED, caring for the same patient population.
• Work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (either night shift 7:00pm–7:30am or day shift 7:00am–7:30pm).
• Shift rotation may occur to meet operational needs; facility will try to honor preferred shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
• Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) completed within 12 months and updated annually; must be done both through agency and facility.

Documentation and Background Checks

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check including 7-year FCRA compliant search, education verification, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Education verification required for all candidates.
• References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
• Nursys verification within 30 days of start.

Orientation and Training

• Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• SafeMedicate prep materials provided for medication competency exam.
• Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) completed at orientation.
• Modules and badge pickup required before clearance to start.
• Facility may require re-completion of modules if there is a break in employment longer than 6 months between assignments at this facility.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete all required documentation and certifications prior to or during orientation.
• Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
• Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review.
• Candidates must be prepared for potential shift rotation and holiday work.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with recent specialty experience and appropriate licensure who are comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
