Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to other units including ED, caring for the same patient population.
- Work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (either night shift 7:00pm–7:30am or day shift 7:00am–7:30pm).
- Shift rotation may occur to meet operational needs; facility will try to honor preferred shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted)
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
- Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) completed within 12 months and updated annually; must be done both through agency and facility.
Documentation and Background Checks
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check including 7-year FCRA compliant search, education verification, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Education verification required for all candidates.
- References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area.
- Annual skills checklist required.
- Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start.
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided for medication competency exam.
- Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) completed at orientation.
- Modules and badge pickup required before clearance to start.
- Facility may require re-completion of modules if there is a break in employment longer than 6 months between assignments at this facility.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete all required documentation and certifications prior to or during orientation.
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
- Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review.
- Candidates must be prepared for potential shift rotation and holiday work.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with recent specialty experience and appropriate licensure who are comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
