Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - NICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Evening/Night shifts, 12 hours (7:00 pm - 7:30 am)
  • Monday through Friday
  • Required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years total NICU III/IV experience
  • At least 1 full year must be in Level IV NICU
  • Level III and Level IV experience can be combined to meet the 2-year total
  • Experience with post-op patients, G-tubes, trach/vent management, and various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Wisconsin RN license or compact license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience, including at least 1 year of Level IV NICU experience
  • NICU experience within the last year
  • Experience caring for post-op patients
  • Experience managing G-tubes
  • Experience managing trach/ventilation
  • Experience with various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP certification
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)
  • Pass/Fail Testing for EKG and Medication competency
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Background checks including SSN trace, nationwide, sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification as applicable
  • State-specific caregiver screening for Wisconsin
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
  • Physical exam (to meet agency standard)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of one adult Tdap required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted
    • Varicella vaccination or titer, with exemptions accepted
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if applicable)

Testing & Competency Requirements

  • Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) required for inpatient pediatric units including NICU
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication as required
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Annual skills checklist

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete Wisconsin BID form and caregiver screening prior to start
  • Photo for badge required (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
  • References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required
  • Employment application required
