Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (PCU Float Pool)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit (3rd Floor) with a focus on Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool duties.
- Patient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic patients, telemetry monitoring, post-cardiac catheterization, and total joint replacement.
- RN responsibilities include interpreting telemetry strips and signing at least once per shift.
- No requirement for RN to titrate drips; set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips are used.
- Floating to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified.
- Unit has a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and nurse aides with a 1:10-15 ratio.
- Respiratory equipment used includes BiPAP, CPAP, and breathing treatments.
- Orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit.
- Self-scheduling is used but finalized by management.
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule.
- Holiday coverage includes Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving with specific shift expectations.
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
Required Qualifications
- Current state RN license.
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical/Surgical Telemetry.
- Minimum 1 year experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- ACLS and BLS certifications required.
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing.
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips and familiarity with CVA and TIA patients.
- Cerner electronic medical record experience recommended.
- Must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year at any facility associated with the specified health system within a 50-mile radius.

Traveler friendly, good ratios, great scheduling, decent providers, Uses tiger text to communicate with most doctors. Plenty of hiking activities. Close to Sedona, Flagstaff and Phoenix. 5:1 Med/tele and 3:1 PCU.
Cons
Cost of living is High, roughly $2000-2500 for your own private space. Float between East and West Campus, 25 minutes apart, west will likely be where you spend 75% of your shifts so pick your housing accordingly.
