Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Dementia Specialty)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care for geriatric patients (50+) with dementia and behavioral disturbances.
• Work in a 24-bed behavioral health unit specializing in geriatric care.
• Patient ratio approximately 1:7.
• No call or float requirements.
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36, including 24 weekend hours.
• Electronic Health Record system: Medhost.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, with psychiatric experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC) or equivalent behavioral crisis management certification.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Experience working with dementia patients exhibiting behavioral disturbances.
• Calm demeanor and ability to work well with others.

Work Environment & Dress Code

• Facility provides emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services with a focus on behavioral health.
• Dress code requires solid color scrubs; facial piercings are not permitted.

Additional Notes

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays.
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff.
