Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location

• Lewiston, Maine
• Level 2 Trauma Center with 190 beds
• Serves a broad patient population from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Emergency Department with 4 critical care bays
• Patient ratio: 1:4
• Equipment includes ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro tele computer, and handheld Care Aware devices
• Electronic Health Records: Omnicell, EPIC, SBAR
• Teleneurology support for stroke cases
• No Pediatric ICU; transfers required for PICU patients

Position Details

• Employment Type: Travel
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Approximately 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: No guaranteed weekends off, but scheduling aims to be fair
• Call Requirements: None
• Float Requirement: Must float to ED holding area

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maine
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, CPI
• Skills:

  • Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Triage in a non-trauma emergency department setting

Patient Population & Environment

• Wide range of patients including pediatrics (approximately 5%) to geriatrics
• Serves an economically depressed area
• Chest pain center and primary stroke center designation

• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• No prior travel experience explicitly required for this role
