Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Salinas, California
Employment Type: Travel Nursing (Clinical - Nursing - Travel)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

• Provide patient care in the Emergency Room under supervision, following departmental policies and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individualized care based on patient age and developmental needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, patients/families, and healthcare team members to deliver and coordinate care plans.
• May float to other nursing units as needed.
• Act as preceptor and charge nurse when assigned.
• Participate in departmental goals, inservices, committees, and performance improvement activities.
• Maintain safety compliance and demonstrate flexibility with hospital/unit activities.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
• Demonstrated skills in care planning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Willingness to float within similar departments or cluster units is highly desirable.

Additional Information

• Must be willing to work on Thanksgiving; no time off requests will be approved during this period.
• Strong communication skills for conflict resolution and teamwork are essential.
• Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, discharge planning, patient/family teaching, and evaluation of patient responses.
• Ability to contribute to cost-effective care by monitoring time, equipment, and supplies.
