Job Opportunity: COTA Outpatient

Location

  • Kalamazoo, Michigan

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Hours per week: 40
  • No call, weekend, or float requirements unless low patient census requires covering other sites

Setting

  • Hospital-based outpatient rehabilitation clinic

Patient Population

  • Adults required, adolescents preferred
  • Diagnoses include lymphedema, cognitive evaluation/treatment, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions
  • Daily patient load: 10-11

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license in Michigan
  • Minimum 1 year of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with lymphedema, manual therapy, and hand therapy
  • Prior travel experience
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • E-Verify compliance per contract
  • Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18, with multiple components (SSN trace, national/statewide searches, education verification, etc.)
  • Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start
  • Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Drug testing: 10-panel including marijuana/THC within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Proof of Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer each
    • Hepatitis B: titer, series, or facility declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (for candidates starting after November 1)
  • Completion of Bronson-specific Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy acknowledgments
  • Completion of Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 1 year prior to assignment start with passing score
  • Competency exam in specialty within 1 year prior to start with passing score
  • One professional reference from a supervisor or manager (charge nurse references acceptable if direct supervision)
  • Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps

Additional Notes

  • Fit testing is not required for outpatient occupational therapy assistants at this location
  • No weekend or call requirements
  • No float requirement unless low patient census necessitates coverage at other sites
