Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Schedule: Will work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Unit: Oncology with float to other MedSurg units as needed
• Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• Charting System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Hematology/Oncology experience, with experience within the last year
• Chemotherapy certification (CHEMO)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Candidates must complete and provide attestations for the following mandatory trainings and modules (some may be completed via Docusign):

• CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
• Preventing Pressure Injury Training
• Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
• Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
• Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
• Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
• Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
• AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health; annual update required)
• New Employee Orientation Module
• 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
• ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
• eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
• Chaperone Policy Training (required if gap >6 months or module updated)
• Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)

Health and Background Requirements

• Physical Exam within 12 months of start
• Fit Mask Test within 12 months of start (annual update required; clean shaven required for fit testing)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination highly preferred for Pediatric specialties, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum (Tdap declination acceptable)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray documentation (TB questionnaire required annually)
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or declination within 1 year)
  • Varicella (vaccines, positive titer, or physician documented history)
• 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/01 - 03/31)
• COVID vaccination series preferred
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 12 months, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Sex Offender Search
  • Education Verification (including Foreign Equivalency for international candidates)
• Employment History: 7 years with no gaps greater than 90 days; verification required
• References per standard requirements
