Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (OR)
• Shift: Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Patient Ratio: 1:1
• On-Call Requirement: Yes

  • 1 day every week
  • One late shift per week
  • One weekend every 5-6 weeks
• Floating: May be required to float between Downtown, Northeast, and Kershaw campuses within scope to meet staffing needs
• Weekend Requirement: See call requirements

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Certifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital with 75 staffed beds
• Scrubs provided
• Electronic charting system: Epic
• Free parking with pass provided
• Local radius for travel: 60 miles
• Locals accepted at a reduced rate

Important Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
• Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including multiple specific searches (SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, etc.)
• Primary source verification of license and education required
• NURSYS verification required for RN license
• Proof of 2 clinical references, including at least one from the unit of assignment
• Complete employment application/resume with no gaps unaccounted for
• Annual skills checklist for applicable unit
• Radiation badge ordering process must be initiated before start; badge delivery may take 5-7 days
• Facility-specific job description and confidentiality/security agreements must be completed prior to start
• Facility orientation modules (~2 hours) must be completed before orientation; failure to complete results in being sent home
• Clear, passport-style photo required for badge issuance

Health & Safety Requirements

• Initial physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands without restrictions
• Respirator medical clearance required annually (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)
• Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
• Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray follow-up
• Annual TB questionnaire completion required
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests accepted)
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
• Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); documentation must be uploaded by December 5 deadline or disciplinary action may occur

Additional Notes

• Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks; called-off hours can be broken down but total no more than 1 shift
• Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting new or extension assignments during this period
• Block scheduling requests require manager approval and depend on unit needs

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience who hold the appropriate licensure and certifications, and who are comfortable with on-call and floating requirements in a dynamic acute care hospital setting.
