Medical Surgical RN Travel Contract

Overview

  • Location: Charleston, South Carolina
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Unit: Neuro/General Surgery
  • Bed count: 25 mixed beds
  • Patient ratio: 1:5, depending on staffing
  • Shift: Nights, 3x12, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Weekend requirement: 3–4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Holiday rotation: Required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Med Surg experience within the last year
  • 1 year of Med Surg experience
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • First-time travelers accepted

Preferred Qualifications

  • Neuro experience
  • ACLS certification
  • NIHSS certification

Schedule Notes

  • Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval, depending on unit needs
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Compliance and Pre-Start Requirements

  • 2 clinical references
  • Complete application/resume
  • Copy of driver’s license or state ID
  • Copy of Social Security card
  • Education verification
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked for the past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam
  • Fit test within 90 days of start and renewed annually
  • Tdap within 10 years of start or declination
  • TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start
  • COVID vaccination documentation or declination
  • Flu vaccination documentation or exemption, if applicable for the season
  • Orientation modules must be completed before start
  • Badge photo required before start
  • Skills checklist, updated annually
  • Work history verification for the last 3 clinical employers
  • State exclusion list

  • Level I Trauma Center
  • Teaching facility
  • Magnet hospital
  • Total staffed beds: 820

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: Solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms
  • Parking requires a $20 registration fee for a hang tag
  • Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season
