Physical Therapist - Inpatient/Acute Care

Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
• Setting: Inpatient acute care on a 7-floor hospital (trauma level 3)
• Patient population includes ortho, neuro, oncology, post-op back and neck, basic medical-surgical, and ICU (medical, cardiac, surgical)
• Team: 8-10 Physical Therapists and 6-8 Physical Therapist Assistants daily; collaboration with Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Case Management
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or documented history)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed)
• Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

• Unit-specific skills checklist annually
• Work history verification for the past 7 years
• Complete application/resume required
• Clear headshot photo for badge

Notes

• This position requires working in a fast-paced acute care environment with diverse patient populations including trauma and ICU settings.
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary therapy and case management teams is essential.
• Candidates must be willing to travel and cannot be local to the area.
