Job Opportunity: Infusion Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
• Weekend coverage every other weekend
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Job Description

• Clinical Nurse Coordinator role in outpatient oncology infusion center
• Required skills include:

  • Biotherapy, Chemotherapy, IV therapy/infusions
  • Medication administration
  • Management of oncologic emergencies
  • IV push narcotic agents
  • Isolation and neutropenic precautions
  • Symptom management
• Preferred skills:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Previous charge nurse experience
• Work settings:

  • Required: Infusion Center, Outpatient oncology
  • Preferred: Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Inpatient oncology

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in District of Columbia
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of infusion experience, with infusion experience within the last year
• Oncology experience
• Experience in an outpatient setting
• Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS or ONCC)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Criminal background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• E-Verify and I9 documentation required prior to start
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap preferred within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, plus annual TB questionnaire
• N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
• Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept–March)
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
• Skills checklist and competency exams must be current and completed prior to start

Additional Notes

• Must be able to complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
• Facility requires annual safety manual acknowledgement
• Weekend coverage every other weekend is required
• Floating to other units of similar or lower acuity is expected
