Location: Urbana, Illinois

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated shift. Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, and documentation in accordance with unit standards and patient needs. The RN ensures patient safety, effective communication within the healthcare team, and promotes a positive and healing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within scope of practice.
  • Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Implement and modify care plans based on ongoing patient evaluation.
  • Administer medications following the "5 Rights" (Right Patient, Medication, Route, Dose, Time).
  • Delegate tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care and patient education.
  • Ensure patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation protocols, and safe ambulation.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and medical needs.
  • Use critical thinking and nursing judgment to identify and act on changes in patient condition.
  • Facilitate efficient admission, discharge, and testing processes for patients.
  • Communicate effectively to support interdisciplinary collaboration and patient care coordination.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
