- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 to 7:00)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirement
- Holiday coverage expected
Job Description
- Float between Adult Critical Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Responsibilities include airway management and suctioning (endotracheal tube, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement), pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, tracheostomy care, and arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
- Use of ventilators such as Draeger V500 and Servo U
- Administer respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Inhaled steroids, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate, Tobramycin, Xopenex
- Skilled in aerosol setup (mask and trach), Medihaler, metered dose inhaler, nebulizer, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), trach collar, BiPAP, CPAP
- Troubleshoot high pressure alarms and assist in weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Assist in high-risk deliveries and umbilical blood gas collection
- Comfortable drawing and analyzing ABGs
- Preferred experience with Cerner electronic charting system
- Preferred skills: bronchoscopy, bicarbonate management, inhaled Flolan, ketamine, Mucomyst, nitric oxide (INo), theophylline
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience working with Adult patients

- Short-term acute care teaching hospital
- Total staffed beds: 338
- Electronic health record system: Cerner
- Scrub color: ceil blue (scrubs not provided)
- Flu vaccine required for all employees
Health and Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site)
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), including multiple substances; positive results reviewed by Medical Review Officer
Background and Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; updated every 3 years or after a 6-month gap
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during employment
- Education verification of highest degree required by position
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
- Medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and competency exams required with minimum passing scores; EKG exam must include 100% score on lethal rhythms section and be updated annually

- Facility-specific modules and orientation must be completed prior to start

I do not have anything negative other than you need to fight with sone to all9w you gain some admission, emergency and critical patient stabilisation experience since they invade such patients which may leave you hanging while the resuscitation happens.
