Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) Contract

Location: New York, NY
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (Every Other Week)
Hours per Week: 34.5 hours

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care within the scope of supportive and restorative care under the direction of an RN or licensed physician/dentist.
  • Deliver nursing care in structured and routine situations without scientific complexity.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living.
  • Administer treatments and routine tasks such as suctioning and urinary catheterizations.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, diagnostic tests, treatments, and examinations.
  • Administer medications within scope of practice.
  • Collect, label, and process specimens accurately.
  • Identify and set up intravenous equipment; deliver solutions via peripheral access devices.
  • Administer blood or blood products (requires special training).
  • Report observations, treatments, medications, incidents, and accidents to the RN and document appropriately.
  • Contribute to nursing care plans in collaboration with nursing staff.
  • Reinforce patient and family teaching as identified by the RN.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families/significant others.
  • Assist with patient rehabilitation according to the nursing care plan.
  • Ensure physical comfort and safety of patients.
  • Participate in patient care conferences.
  • Assist in emergency resuscitative procedures, including initiating emergency calls and performing BCLS as directed.
  • Document nursing care delivered in the medical record.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid LPN/LVN license in New York
  • Minimum 2 years of LPN/LVN experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of an educational program required for LPN licensure
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Competence in intravenous therapy and blood administration (therapy)
  • Emergency Department (ED) experience

Additional Information

  • This role involves working every other week on an 11-hour shift.
  • The position requires the ability to perform emergency nursing tasks and participate in team resuscitation efforts.
  • Emphasis on teamwork within a unit-based nursing care model.
