Registered Nurse (Advanced Care/Med Surg)

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to a designated group of patients using the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources. Responsible for patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care in accordance with unit standards and patient needs. Collaborate with healthcare team members and maintain accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within scope of practice.
Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Implement and modify nursing interventions based on ongoing patient evaluation.
Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including bedside shift reports and hourly rounding.
Collaborate with critical care teams for ICU lite patients and hospitalists for advanced care patients.
Participate in professional development and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
Experience in stepdown and advanced care settings
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
