Job Summary
- Provide safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care in the Operating Room.
- Accountable for care of a group of patients.
- Supervise licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Apply evidence-based practice and participate in quality improvement.
- Mentor and precept staff.
- Use the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Focus on patient/family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to interventions.
- Provide and evaluate patient and family education during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.
- Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Acute care nursing experience
This position is suitable for experienced acute care RNs seeking a clinical role in the Operating Room with leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
