Overview

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Setting: Ortho and medical/surgical inpatient unit
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Hours per week: 36
Contract length: 13 weeks

Role Summary

Registered Nurse responsible for caring for a group of patients during a designated time frame, with duties focused on ortho and medical/surgical patient assessment, education, coordination with physician and surgeon partners, traction setup, and wound/device management.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Orthopedics experience within the last year
1 year of orthopedics experience
BLS issued by American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Assess ortho and medical/surgical patients every shift
Educate patients on wound care, proper mobility, self-care, medication management, care transition needs, and other patient-specific needs
Coordinate with physician and surgeon partners
Delegate and monitor interventions of HCT staff
Set up ortho traction and manipulate surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care
Manage wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, pouches, and other urological devices
