Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Level 1 trauma experience
- Previous travel experience
- Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit
- Heparin drip experience
Unit Details
- 54-bed neuro medical-surgical acute unit
- Typical patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience, and some medical overflow
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on days, 1:5-6 on nights
- Charge nurse and house supervisor are available 24/7
- Telemetry is monitored house-wide; nurses do not need to read strips
- High-flow support is used rarely for stable COVID patients
Responsibilities
- Titrate drips as needed
- Float in rotation with the rest of the staff
- Provide care within competency if floated outside the general unit
Additional Notes
- Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
- Drug screen required
- Tattoos must be covered while on duty
- Piercings are limited to ears only
- 2-day unit orientation is provided
