Schedule

Nights, 12-hour shifts
Weekend and holiday requirements vary
No call or standby requirement

Unit Details

38 beds
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 4:1 to 5:1
Float pool role; floats to med-surg and telemetry
Unit has monitor techs; RN must read their own strips
Charge nurse does not take patients
Unit aides are present; ratio varies

Required Qualifications

2 years of experience in telemetry/stepdown
BLS
ACLS

Clinical Skills / Patient Care

Must titrate drips
Common titratable or set-rate drips include insulin, heparin, amiodarone, and cardizem
Common patient types include ETOH, DKA, heart failure, sepsis, stroke, GI surgery, GU surgery, and joint replacements
Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen

Great hospital. Kind and friendly staff.

Cons

The cafeteria is a hit and miss. Some days they have great sea food with saffron rice! Some days microwaved food :D. But there is alwaaaaays, pizza available ;)
