Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse

Overview

Location: Carbondale, Illinois
Employment type: Contract
Shift: Days
Hours per week: 36
Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

Patient ratio: 4:1 on PCU patients
Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays
Call: No on-call requirement
Overtime: Available
Scheduling: Block schedules are not guaranteed, but preferred scheduling may be accommodated
Patient population: Wide variety of cardiac and respiratory patients

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Work Environment

Supportive and collaborative department culture
Manager is accessible and visible to night shift at least twice per week

Responsibilities

Assess patients’ mental, physical, and spiritual needs
Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care with the multidisciplinary team
Provide explanations and instructions to patients or responsible persons
Recognize and report changes in patient condition using nursing clinical judgment
Contribute to a healthy workplace environment through professional communication
Meet core measure responsibilities related to patient care
Participate in continuing education
Maintain complete and accurate medical records
