Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with 5+ years of ED experience. Candidates with combined ICU and ED experience will also be considered. This role supports a 31-bed Emergency Room (including 2 triage rooms and 7 beds for Behavioral Health or Acute patients) in a community hospital setting serving all age groups.

Work Schedule & Environment

Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 hours
Weekend hours: Rotating weekends/as needed
No call requirements
Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech (for admit holds and behavioral health patients)
Scrub color: Traveler’s choice

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
Handle with Care (CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, available on-site)
NIH Stroke Scale Certification
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Required Licenses

Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Virginia

Experience Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing

Additional Information

Float to other units as needed
Orientation offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays
Random drug screening and criminal background consent required prior to start

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
