Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with 5+ years of ED experience. Candidates with combined ICU and ED experience will also be considered. This role supports a 31-bed Emergency Room (including 2 triage rooms and 7 beds for Behavioral Health or Acute patients) in a community hospital setting serving all age groups.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 hours
- Weekend hours: Rotating weekends/as needed
- No call requirements
- Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
- Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech (for admit holds and behavioral health patients)
- Scrub color: Traveler’s choice
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Handle with Care (CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, available on-site)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
Required Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Virginia
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing
Additional Information
- Float to other units as needed
- Orientation offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Random drug screening and criminal background consent required prior to start
- Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented personality preferred

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
