Unit Details
- Unit Name: 3rd, Neuro Med/Surg
- Building: Main
- 20 beds
- Patient ratio: 6:1
- Tech support on day shift and night shift
- Unit secretary coverage: 7a-7p
- Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
- Contract labor is first to float
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS
- IV insertion skills
- Experience with wound care
- Maintenance of surgical drains
- Experience with NG tubes
- Chest tube care
Preferred Experience
- Med/Surg experience
- Ability to prioritize care and multitask
- Ability to start IVs
- Basic wound care
- Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
Clinical/Equipment Notes
- IV pumps
- Telemetry
- SCDs
- Continuous pulse ox machines
- Feeding pumps
- PCA
- EKG machines
- Bladder scanner
- iMobile communication technology
- Meditech
Additional Notes
- Expected to provide attentive and compassionate care
- Bedside shift report and patient/family involvement in plan of care
- Navy scrubs required
