Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Department: Emergency Department (ER)
• Unit Size: 101 beds
• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for behavioral holds in ED
• Staffing:

  • Techs available (cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage)
  • Unit clerks on day and night shifts
• Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling:

  • Every other weekend required
  • No block scheduling commitment; schedule meets department needs
• Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must float within all ED sections
• Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, ongoing patient updates

Required Certifications (Must have before start date)

• ACLS
• BLS
• PALS
• TNCC
• CPI
• NIHSS
• ENPC (within 90 days of hire)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years as a nurse in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
• At least 1 year experience specifically in an Emergency Room setting
• Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
• Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
• Flexibility to work across all areas of the ED
