Medical Surgical Float

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Redlands, California
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Role Details

• 1:3 ratio with trachs and ventilator management required
• Non-titrated cardiac drip management required
• Will consider first-time travelers with PCU experience and 1:3–4 ratios
• Float scope: med/surg, tele, obs
• Weekend requirement: minimum of 2 weekends per month
• 24-hour orientation
• Navy scrubs required; not provided
• No locals within 50 miles

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Critical Care Float (1 year of experience)
• Critical Care Float experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Management/Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Telemetry - on the unit monitoring
• Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Post MI care
• Feeding tube care and management
• Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management
• Renal failure care
• Accessing Ports
• BPA (Blood Product Administration)
• Central line care/management
• Peripheral Line Care/Management
• PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Heparin Protocols
• Manage Cardiac drips, no titration
• Manage Vasoactive drips, no titration
• CVA
• Care of Ventilated Patient
• Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac
• External CPAP/BIPAP
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Nasal Cannula
• Oxygen face masks
• Non-invasive airway management
• Tracheostomy Management
• Isolation Precautions
• Wound Care/Wound Vac

Preferred Qualifications

• Meditech experience
• Insulin 3:1
• Post Cardiac Angiogram
• IV insulin protocols
• Titration of Insulin drips
• Titrate Cardiac drips
• Pre/Post neurosurgery

Additional Notes

• Single set of RTO up to 7 consecutive days will be considered, excluding holidays
• SBAR communication
