Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (day/night rotating shifts, 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
• Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
• Must work at least every other holiday
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam (passing scores required)

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Current Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience of at least 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Orientation & Training

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• SafeMedicate and ECG competency exams during orientation (passing scores required)
• Modules typically take multiple days to complete and must be finished before clearance to start
• Candidates with less than 6 months gap from previous Cleveland Clinic assignment may have some orientation requirements waived

Additional Requirements

• References: 2 professional references from employment within 1 year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care setting in a similar area
• Annual skills checklist required

Summary

This is a travel/contract RN position for Med/Surg Telemetry at a major hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks. Candidates must have at least 18 months of recent and permanent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry, hold an active Ohio RN license or compact license, and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. The role requires working rotating 12-hour shifts and at least every other holiday. Extensive health, background, and compliance documentation is required prior to start, including immunizations, drug screening, fingerprinting, and physical exam. Orientation includes competency testing and completion of mandatory training modules.
