Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER (Night Shift)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
• No block scheduling
• Return to Office (RTO) required 5 days or less, no exceptions

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience to auto-offer
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience to be screened for review
• Prior travel experience required
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Washington state
• AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (must be AHA; RQI not accepted)
• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (must be AHA; RQI not accepted)

Additional Preferred Certifications (may be required depending on unit)

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – check unit description
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – required for Mother-Baby and Labor & Delivery RNs
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred for ER RNs
• NIH Stroke Certification – required for CCU, Float Pool, and ED RNs

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Competency Exam (minimum score 85%)
• Patient Restraints Competency Exam (required for all except sterile processing techs)
• Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (annual, minimum score 85%)
• OSHA Mandatory Training (annual, minimum score 85%)
• IV Therapy/Infusion Exam (for RNs working in IV Therapy)

Health and Background Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Social Security number verification (actual card not required)
• Background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including SSN trace, statewide, federal, nationwide, sex offender, and international searches if applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Immunizations or titers with lab results for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or facility-specific declination)
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap highly preferred or declination)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (QGold, T-SPOT, or 2 PPDs)
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant tests acceptable)
• Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required year-round (updated documentation deadline November 19)

Documentation and Compliance

• Washington State Patrol (WSP) and WA Courts search results required
• Employment application copy required
• At least two satisfactory references from previous employers within the last year, including evaluation of clinical competency and reliability; references must be from a manager, supervisor, or charge RN
• Completion of facility-specific modules assigned after orientation (must be completed ASAP)
• Review and sign facility policies including:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Applicant Disclosure Statement
  • Confidentiality Policy
  • Appearance and Dress Code
  • Internet Usage Agreement
• Annual CMS Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) training certification required

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
