- Position: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
- Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (4x10 hour shifts)
- Hours per Week: 40 hours
- Unit: Interventional Radiology (IR) and Cardiac Cath Lab (floating between units as needed)
Job Description & Expectations
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring staying at the facility until the event passes or serving as relief.
- Shift hours may vary outside standard 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM to meet unit needs.
- Call schedule shared equally: typically two nights per week and every other weekend, including holidays.
- Weekend on-call from close of business Friday to department opening Monday; must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of notification.
- Must be competent in performing conscious sedation and monitoring/recording all IR procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Competency to perform conscious sedation
- Ability to monitor and record procedures in the Interventional Radiology (IR) department
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
- Sex offender search required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
- Education Verification: Primary or third-party verification of highest education level required.
- License Verification: Must be completed within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start.
- Competency Exam: Specialty-specific exam with minimum 80% score, completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually.
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually.
- Employment Application: Resume/application required with 7 years employment history and explanations for gaps.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required within 12 months of start, indicating good physical health.
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; must be initiated within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance. Instant screenings not accepted.
- Immunizations & Titers: Must provide proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- TB Testing: Negative PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 12 months of start; annual updates required. For positive results, additional documentation required.
- Flu Vaccination: Vaccine, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
- Fit Mask Testing: Annual N95 fit testing required; can be completed onsite if needed.
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for Badge: Full-color, passport-style photo taken within last 6 months, plain background, no obstructions or filters; upload within 24 hours of booking.
- Emergency Preparedness: Review of emergency preparedness checklist required for assignments during hurricane season (June 1 – Nov 30).
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Certification: Required; must be updated annually. Can be completed onsite during orientation week if not current.

- Flexibility in shift hours and floating between IR and Cardiac Cath Lab units is expected.
