Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Rockville, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Hours per week: 40
- Caseload ratio: 8-12 patients
- Weekend requirement: 1 full weekend per month on call
- On-call requirement: 15 shifts per month; must respond within 30 minutes for STEMI call team activation with a guaranteed 2-hour callback
- Floating between units: Not required
- Block schedule: Not accommodated
- Start date: ASAP

Required Qualifications
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Current Maryland professional license for Cath Lab Tech
- ARRT certification or RCIS certification with Interventional Radiology experience
- BLS (AHA only)
- ACLS (AHA only)
- Additional certifications as applicable:
- Must have valid certifications that do not expire within 30 days of start
- Education:
- Government-issued photo ID required on person during hours of service
- Highest degree completed with transcript/diploma or education verification
- Experience:
- Minimum years of specialty experience not explicitly stated; assume standard Cath Lab Tech experience required
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Background checks:
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Drug testing:
- 11-panel drug screen including cotinine/nicotine and marijuana within 30 days of start
- Failure on nicotine/cotinine results in automatic cancellation
- Physical exam: Required within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask testing: Must be completed within 12 months of start; no religious or medical exemptions accepted onsite; facial hair must be trimmed/shaved as necessary
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (must include pertussis)
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON-TB Gold or TSPOT within 90 days) or two-step TB skin test with clear chest x-ray if history positive
- Positive titers or vaccinations for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B positive quantitative titer within 5 years; series must be repeated if low titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31) unless approved exemption
- Vision: Visual acuity screening within 6 months of start, minimum corrected 20/40 for both eyes
- Color blindness exam: Must be completed within 5 years of start
- Radiation safety:
- Radiation badge provided by facility for new candidates working in radiology-related areas
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for new candidates in specified units
Compliance and Documentation
- Photo for badge: Clear, passport-style photo taken within past 6 months, professional attire, neutral background
- Facility-specific forms and checklists must be completed prior to or at orientation
- Maryland fingerprinting required for behavioral health units; must be completed in Maryland with results prior to start
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required if applicable
- NURSYS verification required for RNs (if applicable)
Important Facility Policies
- Strict no-tobacco/nicotine policy: No use of any nicotine products allowed; failure of nicotine/cotinine drug screen results in cancellation
- Must comply with all fit testing requirements; no onsite fit testing or exemptions without approved accommodation forms
- Flu vaccine is mandatory during flu season with no declination option except approved medical or religious exemptions
- On-call STEMI team response time is critical (within 30 minutes)
