Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, options for 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 to 48 hours (facility prefers 48 hours but open to rotating 36/48 schedule)
Schedule: Every other weekend; no on-call; 2 Fridays off in a 4-week schedule

Job Description

• Work in Level 3 Nursery with required attendance at C-Sections
• Responsible for patient transports within the hospital
• Must have experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required for NICU work
• Level 3 Nursery experience required
• Must be able to attend C-Sections

Experience

• Minimum years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated, but Level 3 Nursery experience is mandatory

• Competency exams (medication/pharmacology, core competencies) required annually with minimum passing scores

• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)

Background & Documentation

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, sex offender, federal and nationwide checks
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation required
• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
