Pediatric Stepdown RN

Overview

• Travel/contract pediatric stepdown RN role in Chicago, Illinois
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
• 13-week contract
• Start date: ASAP
• Patient population: ages 2 weeks to 18 years
• Unit includes patients with technology dependence and chronic illness

Schedule and Work Setting

• Accepts 3x12 or 4x12 schedules
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• Floating within scope may be required
• Block scheduling may be accommodated
• Locals are accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted
• On-call is not required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Stepdown experience with 2 years of experience
• Stepdown experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Ventilator experience
• Tracheostomy experience
• G tube experience
• 1:4 patient ratio experience
• Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown experience
• Experience with Meditech
• Flu vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions accepted

Preferred

• PICU experience preferred

Additional Requirements

• Pending license accepted
• RTO must be approved before the start date and included in the contract
• COVID vaccination required; exemptions not accepted
• Tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within the past 10 years
• Drug screen required within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray required
• Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation required
• References required within 3 years of start
• Skills checklist required annually

• Acute care pediatric unit with 39 beds
• No drips or surgical patients
