Registered Nurse - ICU (LTAC)

Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Provide ICU and Intermediate Care (IMC) level care in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) facility.
  • Weekend scheduling is every other weekend (EOW).
  • Local assignment with same pay for first-time travelers allowed.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience in Intermediate Care.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or attestation.
  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service).
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation.
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal check (covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
    • Social Security trace
    • County, Nationwide, Sex Offender checks
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (within 30 days of start and updated for renewals).
  • NURSYS verification (required for all RNs).
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Completion of facility-specific documents and orientation materials prior to start.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Initial physical exam and annual updates confirming ability to meet physical demands.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual updates required.
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within the last 12 months (instant acceptable).

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
  • Completed employment application/resume.
  • Annual skills checklist for applicable unit.
  • Performance evaluations if previously employed with the agency for over 1 year.
  • Internal evaluations if employed over 2 years.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized ICU setting within a LTAC facility, requiring strong critical care skills and adherence to comprehensive compliance and health standards.
