Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Unit: HVTI-Stepdown (Cardiac Stepdown)
Job Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (D/N rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shifts may be variable to meet hospital operational needs; facility will try to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate.
- Work Schedule: Must work at least every other holiday
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
- Minimum 18 months of recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
- PCU/Progressive care experience preferred but not required
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
Orientation & Testing
- Pass/fail ECG and medication competency testing completed onsite during orientation
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory
- SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for exam preparation
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask (N95) fit testing within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Background & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search and education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
- Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
- References: 2 references required from employment within 1 year, from a manager or supervisor (co-worker references not accepted)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
- Candidates with gaps greater than 6 months since last Cleveland Clinic assignment may need to retake orientation/testing
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations generally not accepted
