Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:30 PM – 8:00 AM)
- Monday through Friday
- No weekend shifts required
- No major holidays worked
- Floating within scope may be required
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Unit Description
- PACU with 15 recovery bays divided into PACU A (primary) and PACU B (secondary)
- Care for diverse adult inpatient and outpatient population
- Collaboration with Holding unit, ORs, surgical providers, anesthesia, and Main PACU
- Unit is magnet designated and Joint Commission accredited
- Open Monday through Friday, closed on major holidays
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
- Complete employment application/resume
- Background check within 1 year including:
- SSN Trace
- Statewide and national criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- NURSYS license verification required
- Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology test as applicable
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if positive history
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
Orientation and Facility Specifics
- Completion of orientation modules and OurDay platform requirements prior to start
- Passport-style photo for badge required
- All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at start (no certifications expiring within 30 days)
- Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates accepted at a reduced rate
- Multiple requests for time off within the 13-week contract will be denied
- Radiation badge not required for this position
