Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
- Rotating shifts: 12-hour shifts, either 7pm–7:30am (night) or 7am–7:30pm (day). Shift rotation may be required to meet operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience of at least 1.5 years
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background checks including:
- FCRA-compliant 7-year criminal history search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM monthly checks
- HHS/OIG monthly checks
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Education verification required; international verifications require CGFNS documentation as placeholder if needed.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions; latex allergy notification required if applicable.
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs require approval if needed due to facial hair or exemptions.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant screens not accepted).
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year, not required for surgical support aides.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start; must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
- Modules include training videos and tests that cannot be skipped.
- Modules typically take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start.
- Facility covers cost of up to 4 hours of module time.
- Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) completed during orientation; passing scores required.
References & Employment History
- Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with minimum 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area.
Work Hours
- 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours each).
- Shifts rotate between day and night as needed.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times on assignment.
- Fingerprinting results must be received prior to contract extension; candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed before start date.
- Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may need to retake onboarding modules and competency exams.
- Name on all documents (license, ID, work order) must match legal name; name changes must be updated through proper channels.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with recent specialty experience and valid Ohio licensure seeking a travel contract with a reputable healthcare facility.
