Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

Location: Clifton Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, Mids/Nights (19:00-7:00 or 11:00-23:00)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted; local candidates within 75-mile radius not accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience, including Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

• Specialty: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
• Shift Pattern: 3x12 hour shifts, primarily mids and nights
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Contract Duration: 8 weeks with possibility to extend
• Locals within 75 miles are not eligible for this travel assignment

Compliance and Onboarding Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check including felony checks, SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender registry, education verification from primary source
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and updated monthly
  • Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Education Verification: Required from in-house or third party; hard copies not accepted
• Primary Source Verification: State license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
• Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid background required
• Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency, color blindness test, and other profession/specialty-specific competency exams as required
• Orientation: Safety manual acknowledgement required

Health and Immunization Requirements

Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Documentation

• Employment application required
• Work history verification (at least 2 past employments verified)
• Skills checklist required annually
• References required for agency direct candidates (2 references within 3 years)

Notes

• Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific onboarding and compliance requirements.
• Fingerprinting and additional background checks may be required if working in certain units (Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, LTC).
• Prior travel experience is not required for this assignment.
