NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Day/Evening shifts, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Monday through Friday
  • Required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
  • Approximately 36 hours per week

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience within the last year
  • Experience with post-op patients, G-tubes, trach/vent management
  • Familiarity with various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association (AHA) only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA only
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Compliance & Background Checks

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID Form (state-mandated)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements

Required Health & Immunization Documentation

  • Proof of Tdap vaccination (one dose from adulthood, 10-year update not mandatory)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses or positive titers; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
  • Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer; medical or religious exemptions accepted
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series with positive antibody titer or facility-specific declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
  • Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in Microbiology (if applicable)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) prior to start and annually; must pass with minimum scores (80% overall, 100% lethal rhythms)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing (EKG/Medication) as applicable
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
  • Signed communicable disease form within 90 days of start

Additional Notes

  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years required (Aya standard)
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required
  • Remediation process in place for failed telemetry exams, with up to 3 attempts allowed
  • Physical exam collection required to meet Aya standard (not facility-mandated)
