MRI Tech Position - Utah (Ogden)
Job Summary
- Perform MRI examinations following department protocols.
- Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and patient preparation for exams.
- Select appropriate scanning techniques and protocols in coordination with radiologists.
- Administer intravenous contrast material under physician or radiologist supervision as ordered.
- Operate MRI equipment and related information systems to produce quality images.
- View, transfer, archive, and manipulate images; troubleshoot MRI scanner and equipment issues.
- Understand MRI safety policies, including the FOUR ZONE concept and emergency magnet safety procedures.
- Complete all required documentation accurately, including time stamps, image storage, and quality control reporting.
- Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consent obtaining, and equipment failure reporting.
- Practice infection control and sterile techniques.
Contract Details
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (40 hours/week)
- Work schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off rotation
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
- ARRT registered technologist (RT (R)(MR) or RT (MR)).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Utah State Licensure to administer medications.
- Experience with contrast administration.
Post-Hire Expectations
- Achieve departmental IV certification competency within 3 months of hire.
- Complete controlled substance module within 6 months of hire (if applicable).
- Complete initial moderate sedation module within 6 months of hire (if applicable).
Physical and Skill Requirements
- Hearing/listening, manual dexterity, seeing, standing, and lifting capabilities required.
- Knowledge and skills in:
- Cross-sectional anatomy and anatomical positioning
- Contrast administration
- MRI equipment operation and troubleshooting
- Electronic imaging and image manipulation
- MRI safety procedures including quench procedure and magnet safety
- Quality control and documentation protocols
