Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric ICU
Location
- Rochester, Minnesota
Position Overview
- Accountable for coordination of nursing care including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
- Supports professional nursing practice across settings and continuum of care.
- Functions within a professional nursing practice model emphasizing planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care.
- Provides leadership through precepting, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
- Delegates patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills required.
- May participate in committees or projects.
Specialty Focus
- Care of critically ill pediatric patients across medical, surgical, trauma, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, and pulmonary specialties.
- Unit includes pediatric liver and kidney transplant and bone marrow transplant patients.
- Manages critical patients with congenital and complex multi-organ problems requiring ongoing interventions.
- Experience with Level 1 trauma and intubated patient care required.
- Solid organ transplant experience strongly preferred.
Contract Details
- 13-week assignment
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts with day/night rotation: 07:00–19:30 and 19:00–07:30
- Every 3rd weekend required
- Floating to other units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Level 1 trauma patients
- Minimum 1 year recent travel RN experience
- Experience with intubated patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
- Transport Certified Nurse (TCTCN) certification
